Role Description
This is a part-time on-site role for a Duty Manager located in Inverness. The Duty Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring smooth functioning of the premises, and delivering outstanding customer service to guests. Day-to-day tasks include handling guest inquiries and complaints, maintaining security and safety standards, and ensuring a clean and well-maintained facility as well as supporting both the General Manager and Assistant Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the hostel.
Responsibilities and duties (without being limited to)
Welcome, register, orient and oversee guest stays.
Take reservations over the phone, online or at the door.
Responding to and resolving guest inquiries, issues, comments and feedback.
Proficiently operate our property management system.
Maintain security and safety of the hostel
Training new staff if needed
Replying to online reviews and emails
Housekeeping (i.e.: Stripping and making beds, Vacuuming rooms, dusting, cleaning bathroom and kitchen, mopping, sorting trash and recycling)
Laundry (washing, drying, folding)
Being involved in the day-to-day repairs and maintenance requirements within the hostel as well as
being involved into various projects such as sustainability, marketing, social media...
Qualifications
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle guest inquiries and resolve issues effectively
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Knowledge of safety and security protocols
Flexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings and weekends
Previous experience in the hospitality industry is a plus
A strong positive attitude and eagerness to learn are a must
Self-motivation, decision making, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Must enjoy working with the public and be able to professionally handle guest issues, conflicts, or emergencies that may arise.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment as well as demonstrated ability to work effectively without immediate supervision
Computer literacy is required.
Fluent in English. 2nd language is a plus

-You will need to have the right to work in the UK.
-The role involves physical activities such as bed making on upper and lower bunk beds, including stripping and turning beds on a daily basis as well as lifting laundry baskets and climbing stairs. It also requires some flexibility, and you must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required by schedule.
- This is a shared accommodation (4 bedded staff room)
- Priority will be given to someone able to stay long term, preferably 6 months or more with a minimum of 3 months.
