Edinburgh! General Manager wanted for our brand new CoDE POD hostel.

Who are we?

CoDE POD hostels is a Poshtel !

Our beds are comfy pods, our design is industrial and our staff is genuinely caring over the well being of our guests and colleagues.

We are opening our second hostel in Edinburgh with 200 beds in an old Court house in the centre of the old town of Edinburgh! There will be a bar on the basement and the court room will be a place to socialize through various events and activities.

Who are we looking for?

A hard working, self motivated individual, someone who is welcoming and can work in a team and on their initiative. An outgoing and charismatic personality with the ability to enjoy and have fun at work is ideal.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Recruitment of the reception team, cleaning team and maintenance.
• Order some last minute orders for the opening of the building.
• Training the team once the building opens.
• Responding and solving complicated or escalated requests, phone calls, emails and reviews.
• Communicating with the housekeeping manager and cleaning staff, ensuring the housekeeping reports are accurate and the rooms are ready for check ins.
• Ensuring the wider team’s requirements are met, we give all our managers the flexibility to run their own team and rotas, as ultimately you will quickly understand what works well and how to improve.
• Ensure that all fire safety regulations are up to date with daily, weekly, months and yearly checks thought the building.

Person specification:
• This role requires strong business, team and relationship qualities. You will need to motivate all members of your team, ensure everyone is pulling in the same direction. Therefore, direct leadership experience in teams, clubs and other jobs will really help.
• We are looking for friendly people who can build rapport and keep the peace with our guests and team. A friendly attitude combined with a strong work ethic, problem solving, resilience, great reliability and time keeping, plus a passion for continual improvement.
• You will need to work on computers daily therefore Microsoft Word, Excel and general computer knowledge to pick up different software will be required. You will need to be available before the buildings open so that we can train you on the processes, you will then need to train your team, therefore empathetic teaching techniques help.

Strong English language skills are required in both speaking, reading and writing.

We are expecting you to start on the 1st of June 2019. The building is opening at the end of July 2019.
