We have over 15 years of experience managing hostels and they have great locations, comfortable accommodation, magnificent atmosphere and fun activities for all types of travelers.

Our hostel located in Porto, next to São Bento station, is looking for a Hostel Director to manage all our operations.

You will be the main leader at the hostel, in charge for all the managers and staff.
Your main objective will be to guarantee that the hostel operates optimally and achieves financial and revenue goals.
You’ll have to focuses on providing great customer service and the best experience for our customers, who are at the center of everything.

• Guarantee that all areas of the location work perfectly (Front of the House, Back of the House, etc..).
• Represent Cats at any required meeting or events.

Human Resources:
• Be a direct manager for all the hostel Managers.
• Guarantee that all staff is working accordingly to expectations and delivering an excellent customer service.
• Enforce company policies and behavior rules.
• Supervise all hostel staff, embracing and promoting CATS Philosophy and effectively communicated expected standards to all team members.
• Provide coaching, address complaints and resolve conflicts.
• Lead the recruitment and selection processes for the hostel.
• Develop and manage the staffing plan for the location, guaranteeing the lowest impact to P&L whilst maintaining high levels of service and quality/experience of staff.
• Be the mentor and planner of all training needs of hostel staff and assure the delivery of that training.
• Be in charge of revision and managing the hostel’s payroll.

• Manage the hostel’s P&L, reporting, revenue, costs and all data associated to the hostel performance.
• Manage and deliver business reports to the Country Manager and Central Offices.
• Guarantee achievement of revenue goals and all KPIs objectives for the hostel.
• Look for opportunities to improve the different areas of the hostel and the business, including creating and developing plans / programs for new revenue lines.
• Establish strong relationships with suppliers to maximize results and efficiency.
• Manage the relationship with lawyers and ensure compliance with all local/country laws, reporting on any issues that can arise or cause disruption to the business.
• Manage the relationship with accountants, ensuring compliance with all local accounting legalities, reporting on any issues that can arise or cause disruption to the business.

Sales & Marketing:
• Help central office to implement and manage the sales strategy for the hostel, at location.
• Work with revenue management to implement the necessary changes accordingly with local information and reality.
• Develop the hostel marketing plan, following brand guidelines from central offices and assuring that it is being implemented by all the managers and staff.
• Work on branding, developing local partnerships to promote it.
• Ensure proper use of the brand guidelines

Experience / Community:
• Be the main supporter for the staff to deliver an amazing experience to all the hostels stakeholders (guests/visitors, employees & community).
• Develop an experience/programming plan to fit the hostel in order to increase business and create bounds with the surrounding community / city.

• Prior experience in a management position leading teams / multiple departments (MANDATORY);
• Experience in the hospitality industry – hostels or hotels (VALUED);
• Knowledge on systems: PMS Channel manager, OTAs, etc.. (VALUED);

• Native in Portuguese and fluent in English (MANDATORY and ELIMINATORY CRITERIA).
• Spanish or other languages is a plus.
