Life changing experience - Be our new dynamic and committed Hostel Receptionist


Marco Polo and Malti are two hostels working hand in hand. One created in 2010 and the other in 2016, they are located in the heart of Saint Julian’s in Malta. Created by backpackers for backpackers, our mission statement is “expect the unexpected”.

We are looking for a new experienced hostel manager to join our team and work with our receptionists, housekeepers and other members of the staff to further improve the image of our hostels, the comfort of our guests and the efficiency of our marketing strategy.

Our ideal candidate will have at least one year of hostel management experience in a hostel of over 30 beds. Customer service focused, attention to detail, experience in implementing processes to create improved guest experiences and efficiencies within the hostel. Sales experience and working to targets is also a key requirement.

You will have to oversee all aspects of hostel activity, including accommodation facilities, administration, reception and general management.
*Minimum 6 months contract and EU working visa are required.

Skills and experience:
• Experience of providing high quality customer service
• Line management experience
• Able to collate and interpret financial and performance data to drive business growth
• Demonstrate good understanding of the hospitality industry and current tourist industry standards
• Excellent administration skills and attention to detail
• Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate, working to tight deadlines using own initiative
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of PC and MAC
• Knowledge of the youth hostelling sector, adventure tourism and travel industry
• Project management experience including preparation of specifications and budgets
