We are looking for a super friendly, hard-working and proactiv individual to manage our hostel on beautiful Isla Holbox, Mexico. We are a small family-style hostel, a real home away from home and are looking for someone to keep on transmitting this vibe to our amazing guests.

The hostel has 2 dorms as well as 8 double tents and 2 teepee glamping cabins. We have been open for 3 years and there is still room for growth and your inputs are very welcome. We want to offer the best customer service on the island and make our guests feel as part of the family.


- Experience of minimum 1 year as a hostel manager
- Fluent in Spanish and English (Oral and Writing)
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive personality
- Able to work on a remote island with frequent issues regarding water, electricity, signal etc.
- Strategic planning and financial reporting skills
- Experience in handling of Booking.com/Hostelworld/Airbnb extranet
- Experience in handling of Cloudbeds PMS a plus but not must
- Experience in leading and training a team
- Commitment of at least 1 year

Job responsabilities (not limited to):

You are completely in charge of the smooth operation of the hostel and should be able to take care of most things without direction or supervision.

You should have a sense of ownership and responsibility in the business.

You should have a hands-on attitude to jump in where needed (Plunge a toilet, clean a shower, fold sheets etc.)

Responsabilities in Reception/Reservation/Customer service:

- Make breakfast
- Check-in/Check-out of guests
- Respond to all emails
- Sell tour, sell transfers, rent bikes, promote activities etc.
- Provide local and regional information
- Record and respond to guest concerns
- Adapt rates according to occupancy and market
- Ensure that rates between all channels are updated and guests are being charged correctly

Responsabilities in Human Ressources:

- Selection, recruitment and training of all new staff members
- Supervision of team, ensure tasks are performed correctly and rules and regulations are being followed (Total of 5-6 staff members to supervise)
- Organization of weekly staff meeting to discuss changes, point out mistakes etc.
Responsibilities in Housekeeping & Maintenance

- Supervision of cleaning staff, Ensure all tasks are being accomplished properly
- Organize and implement a rotating schedule for deep cleaning each area of the hostel
- Help with all cleaning and laundry tasks
- Maintain the hostel facilities in proper working order
- Respond to guest and staff feedback regarding broken or malfunctioning items

Responsabilities in Accounting and Budgeting

- Daily cash up
- Reach occupancy and revenue goals
- Maintain accurate records of expenses and revenue
- Pay bills and salaries
- Create monthly Profit and Loss reports

Responsabilities in Entertainment/Atmosphere/ Activities

- Make sure activities are organized and executed properly
- Create and implement new activities
- Engage guests directly (Motivate to take part in activies, welcome, assist etc.)
- Ensure good vibe at hostel (Music, staff attitude, resolve possible conflict etc.)

Responsabilities in Sales and Marketing/Public Relations

- Create and advertise promotions (special rates, events etc)
- Go to hostel conferences/meetings with other hostels etc


Base salary
We will look for accommodation for you and pay the first months rent
Possibility to gain monthly bonuses based on performance
