We are looking for a Receptionist for 2020 season.

Number of positions available: 2 (preferably one male and one female)
Start of the contract: March 1, 2020, arrival by February 23, 2020
End of the contract November 7, 2020, departure from November 8, 2020

Caveland is a small family business with capacity of 45 beds. Every year we welcome four employees who usually come from various European countries. Two employees are responsible for the reception and two employees are responsible for housekeeping. We are two owners, one of us is a manager and another one is responsible for maintenance and decoration. We also have a part time maintenance person.

ABOUT CAVELAND:

The history of Caveland is 300 years old. This complex was originally used as a winery. The grapes were collected from local vineyards that are surrounding it. Afterwards they were mashed in a well that is located at today’s reception. Finally, the wine was stored in the caves that are now converted into cave rooms.
This place was later known as a tennis club and it was in the late seventies one of the first hotels in Santorini. It was refurbished and re-opened in 2011 as a boutique hostel. It offers a mixture of private and dorm-style accommodation. The property is a 15 000 sqm large with a big pool, numerous gardens and hidden corners. It is in a picturesque village of Karterados just next to Santorini’s capital Fira town. Karterados village lies on the main bus route connecting Fira with the south of the island. Therefor the location is ideal for those who want to explore the island and still be away from the crowds. Here is Caveland website.

REQUIREMENTS:

- EU passport
- Fluent in English, extra language is a plus;
- Background in tourism (Education or previous work experience);
- Computer skills (internet, social media, Word, Excel, previous experience with a booking platform or a reservation system is a plus);
- Outgoing, talkative, happy and enthusiastic personality with a positive vibe;
- Trustworthy, fast-lerner, ability to work in a team but also think and act independently;
- Basic sales and customer service skills;
- Positive approach towards work, guests and co-workers;
- Flexibility, positive attitude towards change and learning new things
- Interest to learn about the hostel industry

TRAINING:

Caveland is opened seasonally and our 2020 season will be from March 1 until November 7. It is important that the applicants can commit for the entire duration of the contract.
Training period is February 24 - March 31, 2020.

TYPICAL TASKS:

• Check ins, check outs, answering of the calls and email communication
• Management of the reception
• Customer service
• Cash handling, end of the day reports, accepting of card payments and related administration
• Sales of in-house trips and activities and vehicles
• Event- Organizing and participation at activities
• Basic housekeeping maintenance tasks in the kitchen, reception area, rooms, common bathrooms and outdoor spaces
• Preparation and supervision of breakfast
• Assistance with laundry when required
• Assistance with cleaning and maintenance at the start and end of the season
• Watering of plants, feeding our dogs


OUR EVENTS:

All our 4 full time employees rotate through the events as Event Leaders.
Our typical events are:

- Monday and Friday Greek sampling dinner at a local restaurant:
Leader walks the guests through our village and points out places of interest as well as explains about local cuisine and dishes that are served in the restaurant. The leader eats with the guests and is free to continue the night at any of the local bars in town.
- Wednesday Cook your Santorinian dinner:
Leader cooks with our guests at our communal kitchen two typical local dishes, guests eat together and watch a Greek inspired movie

REMMUNERATION AND BENEFITS:

- February 24-28: pocket money
- March, 2020: training salary + commission from sales
- April- November: standard salary/month + commission from sales
- Shared staff accommodation and breakfast
- Local social and health insurance
- Usage of all the facilities (communal kitchen, swimming pool, laundry, yoga terrace etc)

ACCOMMODATION:

A bed in a loft that can accommodate two people or a bed in a room with a bunk bed. Two employees always live together, all four employees share a bathroom. The accommodation is a part of a cave that hosts our reception and a store room.

DAYS OFF:

- Each employee gets 2 full days off a month and one more day off after working a double shift on the same day.

Morning reception is 8am – 2.30pm
Afternoon reception is 2.30pm- 10.30pm

- Typically, the person that just finished a morning shift will start again the next day with an afternoon shift.

- Shifts are always divided at the beginning of the month.

- All the days off are paid.
