Specific Tour/Trip Details
We are looking to setup a Harpers Ferry Adventure Camp for most weekends through the fall from D.C. Overnights would be at HI-Harpers Ferry Hostel and activities will change each time. You will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of this new program. It's estimated as 25 hours of pay per week. However, other driving opportunities during the week may become available.
General Job Description
As an adventure tour leader and minibus/van driver, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:
Safe and reliable transport of up to 14 passengers along established routes.
Daily vehicle safety inspections and completion of associated driver and vehicle reports.
Monitoring vehicle performance and maintenance, e.g., fluid levels, battery, & tire pressure.
Loading, unloading, and securing luggage/bicycles to and from baggage compartments and roof racks.
General cleaning of vehicle, e.g., washing & vacuuming.
Leading groups of visitors through points of historical, cultural, or regional interest.
Guiding and/or facilitating various outdoor activities, e.g., canoeing, hiking, & biking.
Preparing and/or facilitating group meals.
Fostering a positive and dynamic group atmosphere.
Dealing in a professional manner with HostelHiker suppliers and partners, e.g., hostels & adventure outfitters.
Requirements
Ability to drive up to a 22 foot minibus. Limited training will be provided.
Minimum age of 25 with safe driving experience. Must provide copy of state driving record.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to operate a GPS and tablet computer, e.g., iPad.
Experience with social media and Meetup groups.
Able to travel long distances and be away from home for prolonged periods.
Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team with limited supervision.
Salary
$11/hr + tips & commission
