CLOSED.Vacancy Part-time Hostel Manager

For the summer season of 2014 we are looking for a part-time manager to help to run the Inveraray Hostel.

About the hostel:
We are a small and personal hostel with 28 beds. The hostel is located in Inveraray, a small town in the highlands of Scotland with stunning views. It is a place where a lot of hikers, cyclists and bikers pass everyday. The hostel used to be part of the SYHA, but has been independent since October 2013.

About the job:
We are looking for a sociable, friendly and reliable person to fulfil manager tasks. These tasks are checking in guests, taking bookings, administration work and cleaning. If you are willing to you can also do publicity work for the hostel.

Compensation is based on a base salary & accommodation.
The Hostel
We aim to make our hostel ideal for solo, small group and budget travellers, by offering self-catering, friendly and communal facilities.

The center of our hostel is the Common Room, a social area where you are always welcome and where guests mingle and chat together. To keep the conversation flowing, we do not have a TV, and we discourage the use of personal computers and devices in this area.

We have a well-equipped kitchen including oven and microwave, where you may prepare your meals and sandwiches, clearing away after yourself. There are pigeon-holes for you to store your food, and fridges for perishables. Or you can buy take-out fish and chips in town (10 mins walk) and bring them back to the hostel to eat. The kitchen and dining areas are joined with the common room.

There is a small lounge area just off the common room, with several power points, where you can use your own computer or smart phone, and Wifi is available.

Free tea/coffee is available on arrival. You can also avail yourself of this at later times, when a small donation would be appreciated.

You may need to make use of our drying room, which is in a hut across the back yard. This will be locked at night, but a key is available. If the heating is not on, please tell a member of staff.
