Job Overview:
The General Manager is responsible for over-seeing all aspects of day-to-day hostel operations including guest services, housekeeping, and logistics of the on-site bar. This role also includes sales and booking strategies, operating booking sites and promotional pricing recommendations, marketing and PR efforts. The General Manager leads all human resources operations including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance reviews. The General Manager will report directly to the owner of the hostel.

Job Functions (including but not limited to):

Day-to-Day/Guest Services
• Over-seeing all aspects of day-to-day hostel operations including guest services, housekeeping, and logistics of the on-site bar
• Ensure complete satisfaction of all guests by providing the tools required by reception to provide excellent service, monitoring and maintaining standards of customer service and resolving all complaints
• Respond to guest reviews online and maintain satisfaction scores

Sales/Marketing/Booking Strategies
• Coordinate all marketing and public relations efforts, including online social presence
• Maintain and oversee relationship with booking sites, channel managers, etc
• Coordinate group sales strategy
• Maximize room revenue through pricing strategies
• Act as first line resource for inquiries and questions related to sales and marketing initiatives
• Drive student group bookings by setting up relations and coordinating promotions with STA, DU, etc.

Human Resources
• Recruit, interview, train, and manage staff
• Lead performance reviews
• Ensure team member satisfaction and development

Market Analysis:
• Continually monitor actions of key competitive hostels with regard to special offerings, brand or group promotions and over-all policies that impact the guest hotel reservations buying decisions, i.e. cancellation terms, advance deposit policies, etc

Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Hospitality, Marketing, Social Media, and/or PR
• Previous experience in Digital Marketing, Brand & Message Marketing, Market Research, Social Media, Booking Engines, Public Relations
• Previous experience in Google Analytics
• Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, effectively with guests and co-workers; respond to guest requests.
• Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
• Ability to exercise judgment in evaluating situations and in making sound decisions
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and handle conflict resolution
• Ability to compile facts and figures

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations and/or Hospitality/Business related.
