Duties
Morning: Putting out breakfast materials and preparing coffee. Sweeping hall and exterior of building
and other duties as assigned
Day and Evenings
Check in and Check out Guests
Update Reservations
Provide guests with needed information on DC attractions and events etc
Learn and use at least 5 phrases in 7 languages
Use washing machine, fold and store linens
Cleaning all rooms, maximum 3 times per week
Maintenance services to include making minor repairs, troubleshooting and maintain electronic equipment: DVD players, Karaoke equipment, television, computers etc.
Assist in marketing and planning, host games and entertainment for guests at the hostel, accompany guests on some events ( i.e. bike tours, trips to events , etc)
Internet Research. Various topics will be assigned on various matters to be performed evenings and week ends
Prepare posters and other graphics (knowledge of Microsoft Word is sufficient.)

Although the position is 23 hours per week, the hours are staggered and flexible as long as the housekeeping and other assignments are timely performed and there is someone available to check in and check out guests. Staff, Gary Yin must be available for weekends, and daytime hours between 7:30 am to 8:30 am and evenings from 5 pm to 10 pm.
Although work hours may be adjustable within the hours stated, the adjusted hours are at the sole discretion of International House of Washington. Reasonable adjustments will be made to accommodate staff.

Duration
If the position is accepted, candidate must work for 3 months or forfeit a $200.00 deposit
Qualifications
multi skilled individual for guest services:
Ability to learn languages, fluent English. knowledge of Chinese, Korean and Portuguese is a plus
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge to create web pages is a plus.

Good personal and communication skills. Patient with guests. Ability to speak slowly to guests with limited English.
Dress Code and Conduct
Men: Professional dress. Men will wear collard shirts, no facial hair no tattoos, no sexy clothes no head jewelry, no blue jeans, no shorts, no open shirts, or hats. uniforms, at IHOW expense may be required.
Women:: Professional dress No sexy clothes No tight clothes, No open exposed flesh below the neck. No shorts, No blue jeans, no tattoos, no head jewelry, no tattoos, no bright color dyed hair.

Other
Smoking, alcoholic beverages, and illegal drugs including marijuana are not permitted on the premises. Anyone appearing intoxicated or on drugs at the hostel, will be immediately dismissed.
No staff member is allowed to date, go out with one guest, or socialize outside the hostel, or cultivate and sexual relationship
