'Live-in' Hostel Assistant/Housekeeper/Cleaner
The friendliest hostel in Liverpool is looking for someone to join our team part time.

This is a responsible position, which demands hard work and commitment in the sharing of the running of a backpackers hostel. Duties include Cleaning, Laundry, Reception, Telephone AND Maintenance.

It is desirable that the applicant has his/her own transport (nearest shop half mile). Live-in position is available. Knowledge of the computer, customer service in a hospitality field and hands-on experience of cleaning and general maintenance is an advantage.

Wage: - £6.19 per hour. A weekly deduction is made towards utilities, Shifts work 3-10pm in afternoons and 9.30-3pm in the morning.

The position is for a fixed term of up to 12 months (potentially becoming permanent for the right person), and would be particularly suitable for someone with hostel experience.

We are looking for a friendly, outgoing person to work part-time on reception Sun to Sat and between 7-24hrs per week minimum wage with commission opportunities. Please note: this is a 0 hour contract and hours may vary. We will only contact suitable applicants and a minimum of 6-month commitment required.

You must be communicative, have knowledge of Liverpool, computer literate and speak fluent English but you don’t have to have experience, we will train you (though it would be desirable).

Your duties will include welcoming guests into the hostel and waving goodbye when they leave, taking reservations over the phone or in person, cash-handling, writing blogs and up-selling the hostel also answering loads of questions about travel and sightseeing in and around Manchester and making our guests feel at home (most importantly).

The post holder will support the Hostel in the smooth running of the Reception area in addition to supporting the kitchen and housekeeping departments. Suitable candidates will have a good knowledge of customer service and experience of food and hygiene practices as well as an understanding of the importance of health and safety at work.

The provision of customer service during busy times can be demanding. Flexibility and adaptability as well as a can-do attitude and the ability to work under pressure and unsupervised will be an important attribute of the candidate.

It is not essential but applications will be considered favourably from candidates who have worked in the hospitality industry, with a good knowledge of customer service, the local and surrounding area to be able to deliver first class guest information and help with travel planning as well as giving our guests inspiration on how to make the most of their stay in the area.
