RAD Hostel Manager
RAD Hostel is looking for a Manager to lead our team of 4-10 employees and volunteers, manage the day to day operations, and work closely with the owner in strategic planning for our mid-sized hostel.
About the Position:
Start Date: March 2025
Reports to: Owner
Compensation –
Annual pay DOE - $40,000 - $45,760
Free on-site housing
4 weeks paid vacation
Up to 2 weeks unpaid vacation
Paid sick leave
Requirements:
Previous hostel, hotel, or other hospitality industry management experience
Relevant college degree
Knowledge of Property Management Systems and Channel Managers- Cloudbeds experience a plus
Experience working with the major OTA’s
History of successful leadership roles
Budgeting and strategic planning experience
Must be able to delegate effectively
Valid Driver License

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Operations Management
Build and manage a strong, collaborative team focused on the hostel’s mission, ensuring tasks are completed through delegation and teamwork.
Evaluate current processes; develop, implement, and regularly assess strategies for ongoing improvement.
Oversee all aspects of front desk operations, ensuring tasks are effectively delegated and completed:
PMS - Cloudbeds
OTA management
Guest relations
Ongoing, effective management and pricing of room/bed/activity inventory
Rate comparison with competitive set and year-over-year analysis
Lead and oversee marketing and advertising efforts:
Assess current marketing strategies and develop plans for improvement.
Manage social media accounts, including creating a content calendar.
Create and implement advertising campaigns.
Supervise inventory and ordering to ensure smooth operations:
Front desk supplies
Room supplies and guest amenities
Housekeeping needs
Food supplies
Oversee maintenance and facility management:
Ensure the property is well-maintained and in proper working order.
Respond to guest and staff feedback regarding broken or malfunctioning items.
Conduct routine site inspections to identify, resolve, and prevent potential problems.
Cultivate the hostel atmosphere and activities in alignment with its mission and culture:
Organize and oversee guest activities, ensuring they are well-executed.
Record details for each event (duties, expenses, challenges, successes, and areas for improvement) to allow for easy replication and refinement.
Staff Management/Leadership:
Participate in recruitment and hiring process and decisions
Onboard and train new hires
Set clear expectations linked to hostel mission and goals
Assign and oversee task completion (housekeeping, maintenance, guest activities, front desk, social media)
Ensure staff are following all procedures and exemplifying company values and standards
Assess staff performance to make sure the right people are in the right jobs
Provide necessary one-on-one and team coaching, training, and development so that staff has the knowledge, skills, and resources to be successful
Weekly scheduling
Public Relations and Industry Relations:
Maintain guest contact lists
Participate in local business associations
Organize local community outreach and volunteer activities for staff and guests
Participate in hostel industry events and conferences
Build partnerships with local small businesses
Business Development and Strategy:
Follow trends in the hostel industry
Ensure that the hostel identifies and meets the changing needs of guests
Create and implement a written plan for growth and expansion to capture more market share and new markets
IT:
Maintain website
Maintain staff computer
Administrate public and private wifi networks
About Our Hostel:
In the shadow of Pikes Peak, just 5 miles from Garden of the Gods (#1 park in the USA, TripAdvisor 2020), our hostel is a blend of Colorado’s mountain culture, thriving art scene, and fresh Colorado Springs vibe. We opened in September of 2018 and since then we’ve had the pleasure of hosting guests from 91 countries and all 50 states. We welcome adventurers, travelers, seekers, wanderlusts, students, retirees, and anyone eager to explore all the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. We offer a mix of private and shared rooms for up to 70 guests and plenty of communal space to mingle, cook, eat, watch TV, play games (indoor & outdoor), or simply to relax and breathe in some of that clean Colorado air. Our space was designed with a minimalist philosophy so we can focus on what really matters- experiences, not things. We consistently have very high ratings and have received two Travelers’ Choice award by TripAdvisor for being among the top 10% rated hostels worldwide!
