Bananas Hostel

Bananas Hostel is a small hostel (9 guest rooms) on the main street of a surfy town called Itacare in Bahia, Brazil. Bananas is a very bright, colourful place with lots of art, a big tropical garden filled with various fruit trees, palms and plants. We are a 10minute walk to 4 of the local beaches (there are many more!), 10mins to the town center and next to the bars and restaurants (because of how the property is arranged we don't suffer with street noise).

The town of Itacare has many, many beaches (over 12 local) as it's on a peninsula, but it also has waterfalls, a river and Atlantic rainforest. There are many things to do in town including; capoeira, yoga, surf, stand up board, kayaking and forro dancing to name but a few. It's a small town with a 30,000 population, but gets very busy during the high season (Dec-Mar). The weather is hot all year round with a raining season between Jun-Aug (even then it is sunny and warm).

Our hostel is very sociable and we pride ourselves on making our guests feel at home and providing lots of entertainment and relaxation. Part of what gives it that homley feel is that our volunteers are like family and enjoy being part of it and sharing it with others. We have a pool table, darts board, foosball table (needing repair), book exchange, games, hammocks, communal kitchen, an awesome bar, lots of art and a beautiful big garden. We also have sky tv and plenty of music equipment. We run a variety of nights during the week including: film nights, live music, poker and of course, chill outs.

We regularily have musicians play at ours (some pretty well known) and started a jam night which, over the years, has become very popular with the whole town.
