The newly promoted Lazy Monkey Hostel is sister to the famous Drunken Monkey Hostel, which has been number one rated on Hostelworld and Tripadvisor for the last four years running in Zadar. The Lazy Monkey is our latest little gem, set in the same easy-going surroundings of Arbanasi. This lovely hacienda styled property overlooks the distant Velebit mountain range and from our large outdoor terrace, guests can enjoy a glorious sunrise (if you're still awake or an early riser!).
The Lazy Monkey is located only 4 minutes walk from the Drunken Monkey, 6 minutes walk to the main bus station, and a beautiful 30 to 40 minute stroll to the old city gates along the coast. For those monkeys with more energy, the old town can also be reached by foot in 20 minutes. The brand new ferry port is also located only 5 minutes drive away, taking you to all the nearby islands. The local bus stop for the old town is opposite the hostel, or if you prefer, taxi's are extremely cheap to and from Zadar's charming centre.
Our surroundings in this area of town are quite frankly beyond compare in Zadar. With fantastic swimming spots along the Kolovare waterfront, the best daytime bars, cliff jumping and cycling if you're feeling active, or leafy sleepy shades if you're not; from where you can experience the most beautiful sunset in the world. With all of this on your doorstep; you're in a special place..
The Lazy Monkey Hostel provides the perfect spot for you to unwind and put your feet up with new found friends. We are the only hostel in Zadar specifically designed for your relaxation and ambiance.. Low seated furniture, beanbags and hammocks, vibrant decor, open courtyard and garden, large terraces and eclectic music for everyone's taste, allowing you to to chill, socialise and find tranquility whilst still ensuring some cheeky monkey fun.
We also carry a little soul and personality at the Monkey Hostels. Our fantastic and knowledgeable staff are ready for your questions, and unique, homely and comfortable accommodation offered in both dormitories and private rooms.
Entertaining nights in and exciting nights out are also on offer. A calendar of activities at The Lazy Monkey include, food evenings, regular group BBQ's, outdoor cinema, games and quiz nights. Feel free to light up the BBQ yourself, or, use our huge catering facilities. You won't find a hostel kitchen quite like it! Home-grown figs and mulberries from our trees in the garden can be thrown together to make some fantastic smoothies, or add a little flavour to the traditional Croatian rakija's available.
Our staff are ready to help with excursions, and our travel hub offers you a range of day trip options in and around the Zadar area including the stunning Plitivice Lakes, Krka and Paklencia National Parks. Enjoy a speedboat ride and explore the local islands, or, use one of our many bikes available to peddle around the city. Whatever your travel requirements are, our friendly crew are here to help.
If you're looking for accommodation in the city centre, we would like to advise you that there are other closer hostels available, and we suggest you explore those options first. This decision depends on what you are looking for. You cannot get the kind of facilities on offer at our hostels within the old city centre. We believe our hostels are in the best possible location. Being a lazy or drunken monkey, isn't to everyone's taste or requirement, and we would like you to take this into consideration before you book with us. As of this year we now offer free shuttle service into the Old town twice a day, as well as a pick up at the city gates at everyday!
