Hostel Zocalo

Hostal Zocalo is located on the Plaza Mayor of Merida, the laid-back colonial capital of the Yucatan State, and is the former home of the poet Jose Peon Contreras.

Hostal Zocalo is a hostel with the feel of a guest house. The kitchen is the heart of this lovely house and the fact that all beds come with a fantastic breakfast buffet encourages guests to spend time in this social hub of the house.

The breakfast buffet is abundant and consist of bacon, eggs, crepes, bread, butter, cheese, marmalade, honey, cereal, fresh milk, five tropical fruits, coffee and tea.

People gather at the kitchen table for dining, music, and general good cheer both day and night, but there are many additional spaces to enjoy, including the 20 meter long hall, or pasillo, and three open air patios.

The house offers private rooms with balconies or bathrooms and two dormitories, male and female, for people of all stripes and ages. Hostal Zocalo welcomes all of you.

Rates:

140 pesos for a dorm bed which includes a full breakfast buffet. Private rooms are 260pesos to 350pesos. Rooms with private bathroom or a balcony on the main plaza are 350pesos.
