Located in stunning Kaikoura, where the mountains meet the sea, Albatross Backpacker Inn is a soulful hostel with a unique character. Our aim at The Albatross is to provide a creative, relaxed and welcoming environment that enables travellers to connect with themselves and with each other. Located in Kaikoura’s historic Old Post Office, you’ll find endless quirks and charms throughout our buildings.

Pick up a guitar, play the piano, paint a canvas in our art corner, use our Baking Box to make a batch of cookies, play giant chess, snuggle with a book in the Cosy Corner, tell stories around the wood-burner with a mug of organic hot chocolate, star-gaze from the beach 1 minute from the hostel, shared summer BBQ’s and group winter dinner’s. The Albatross is about feeling yourself, expressing yourself and enjoying yourself.
