Backpacker Hostel
Edinburgh's funkiest hostel by far. Perfectly located between the Old and New towns offering spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle, within easy walking distance of both the main bus and train stations and only steps away from Airport Express bus.
Breathtaking murals cover the walls of this elegant old building - all painted by former guests - combined with home-ey feeling rooms give the hostel a brilliant atmosphere. Reception is open 24hr allowing guests to come and go as the please, with passes issued for that added bit of security. Check out is at noon, allowing a for a nice sleep-in every morning after a hard night partying amongst Edinburgh's top restaurants, pubs and clubs.
Catering for individuals and private groups we have clean dormitory and private rooms with new mattresses and quality bedding. We have 220 beds available in short term and additionally we offer long-term rates and have over 50 long-term beds available, with their own additional kitchen and common room. Our bar - The Swamp - offers some of Edinburgh's cheapest drinks (particularly our single malt whiskies) and is the perfect starting point to experience Edinburgh's infamous nightlife and being open until 5am on weekends gives you the chance to keep the festivities going that little bit longer after the pubs and clubs close.
Or for those of you looking for a slightly quieter time (possibly on account of a few too many big nights on the road) we have free wireless in all rooms, our reading room with comfy couches and one of the best views of the castle you're likely to find and coming soon; our cinema room!

Only people over 18 year of age may stay at Caledonian Backpackers.
The large rooms (20+ beds) do not have keys. All other dormitories require keys and we do ask for a £5 deposit for your room key, which you get back when you check out of course. You will need to supply your own padlock for the lockers, or you can purchase one from us for £2.50.
Smoking Policy: Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building. This is now the law in Scotland.
Please ensure you bring photographic identification to check in, such as a passport or drivers license.
