Luna's Castle is the most popular backpacker spot in the city and is run by a crew of young travelers who are able to provide a wealth of information on Panama and can offer first hand recommendations on all the best desinations.
Luna’s is housed in a beautiful three-story, Spanish colonial building with vaulted ceilings, and balconies with sweeping views of Panama bay and the modern city. Located in Casco Viejo, the heart of the old city, Luna’s is just minutes from restaurants, bars, supermarkets and a mulititude of shopping opportunities.
Within 10 minutes of our front door you can see the Presidential Palace, the Metropolitana Cathedral, the National Theater, a plethora of low and high end restaurants and bars, as well as artesanry shops and pedestrian plazas. It sits on the periphery of the remodeled section of Casco Viejo - you can feel the refined elegance of the mansion across the street and yet behind us the vibrant, real side of San Felipe. Unlike most buildings in Casco Viejo, Luna's Castle is in great condition, with original wooden staircases and the original city wall lining our patio.
We have turned this old colonial mansion into what we imagined as the best hostel possible. There are several large communal rooms with free 24 hr internet, guitars for group sing alongs, hammocks for lounging with a book, a large dining room table for massive family-style dinners and of course the all-you-can-eat pancake and banana breakfast, a pimp movie theater with a 3-level-mattress-padded stadium seating movie theater with a full 15ft screen, a large patio and BBQ area, and a fully equiped kitchen to make even the foodie travelers happy.
Our walls have been transformed into our own art gallery featuring arwork by Corinna Haight, Daniel Poisson and various other travelers who helped make Luna’s what it is today. We have created detailed guide books from our personal experiences with information about all the best things to do in Panama including the nightlife, local events, San Blas, Bocas del Toro, surfing, boats to Colombia and much more.

$12 a night for dorm beds and $28 for a 2 person private
