The Cowshed Boutique Bunkhouse is a very special place for a lot of people. Our guests enjoy our excellent location, fantastic modern and clean facilities, and wonderful views all around.

The Cowshed is also a very special place for a lot of the locals; the original building here was the maternity hospital for the island, so where a lot of the islander were born and families were started. The building has seen a few changes over the years, but is now The Cowshed Boutique Bunkhouse - a new style of Hostel.

Situated on the North West coast, the Cowshed is perfectly situated to enjoy spectacular sunsets over the bay, something which should definitely not be missed! We are also lucky enough to get quite regular sightings of the Northern Lights and many guests have left here with fantastic aurora photos and memories which will last a life time.

The village of Uig has everything you could need during your stay. There is an excellent general store for your grocery needs, a petrol station, cafes, restaurants and a fantastic local pub. The Isle of Skye Brewing Company is based in the village, offering you a real taste of Skye in the sampling area of their shop. Local wildlife is in abundance with seals and otters often spotted in the bay and eagles and buzzards soaring overhead. During Spring and Summer there are daily boat trips from the Uig Pier to look for whales and puffins, as well as daily ferry links to the Outer Hebrides.

There are some great local walks, shorter options include a stroll through the woods to the sea shore, a walk to the thundering Rha Falls, or exploring the fantastic landforms of the Fairy Glen and feel the magic of this quite unique miniature landscape of grassy cone shaped hills. Longer hikes take you up to the scenic wonders of the Trotternish Ridge.

The Isle of Skye offers something for everyone; amazing hiking, glorious scenery, varied wildlife…. the list is endless. The Cowshed Boutique Bunkhouse makes the perfect base to make the most of everything the island has to offer. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery and just a short drive from some of the great ‘North End Highlights’, including the Quiraing, The Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and, just a short walk away from the Cowshed, the magical Fairy Glen. The wonders of the North West of the island should also not be missed, with the Fairy Pools, Neist Point Lighthouse, Dunvegan Castle, Coral Beaches and the Talisker Distillery, to name just a few highlights which are easy to reach from Uig. The staff would be happy to recommend great day trips from here, ensuring that you don’t miss any of the or hidden away secrets.”
